Ordination and Consecration of Carrie Schofield-Broadbent as Bishop Coadjutor of Maryland

The Rev. Carrie Schofield-Broadbent will be Ordained and Consecrated as Bishop Coadjutor of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland (XV Bishop of Maryland), 11:00 AM, Washington National Cathedral, 3101 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington DC 20016.

Gifts for our Bishop Coadjutor
During the consecration service, symbols of the office will be given to our new bishop for use throughout her ministry with us. Your contribution toward these gifts will have a lasting impact on her ministry and our Community of Love.

Admission and parking

  • Tickets not required to attend in person
  • Doors open at 9:30 AM for general admission.
  • Parking in the garage at Washington National Cathedral is free Saturday. However, it is limited, so carpooling is encouraged.
  • If your congregation is planning to take a bus to the consecration, you must contact skirsch@cathedral.org to arrange for bus parking. Bus, motor coach, or oversized vehicle parking is available with advance notice.

  • Everyone is encouraged to wear something red!

Maryland Clergy meet with Bishop Mary Gray-Reeves, vice-president of the House of Bishops
American University Conference Facility, East Campus Commons, 3319-3395 New Mexico Ave NW, Washington DC 20016 (RSVPs were required for this event. Enter via New Mexico Ave, follow the signs for free parking)

4:00-5:30 PM
Rehearsal at Washington National Cathedral (all participants have been notified)

6:00 PM-9:00 PM
Celebratory reception and dinner at Virginia Theological Seminary, 3737 Seminary Road, Alexandria, VA 22304 – Scott Lounge (by invitation only due to limited space)

Saturday, September 16
Parking at the National Cathedral (underground) is free but limited, please car pool.

Breakfast, Signing, and Sealing of he Certificate (Bishops and their spouses only) Embassy Suites by Hilton – Chevy Chase Pavilion, 4300 Military Road NW, Washington DC 20015 – Chevy Chase Ballroom

Vergers – enter through the Northwest ramp door and gather at the Slype

8:30 AM
Musicians and Choir rehearsals at Washington National Cathedral – enter through the Northwest ramp door and gather in the Great Choir

Banner bearers – enter through the Northwest ramp door and gather at the South Transept

Ushers – enter through the Northwest ramp door and gather in the West End

9:00 AM
Communion Ministers – enter through the Northwest ramp door and gather at St Mary’s Chapel for a briefing

Deacons in formation, seminarians, Commission on Ministry, religious orders, Daughters of the King: 9:30 AM gather in the Bethlehem Chapel

Ecumenical clergy, bishops, Interfaith representatives, Representatives of the Anglican Communion: 9:30 AM gather in the Bethlehem Chapel

Episcopal Bishops: will meet at 9:15 AM in the Perry Auditorium and vest at 10:15 AM, and those Bishop Aspergers will receive a briefing from the Rev. Victor Hailey at 10:15 AM.

PLEASE BE AWARE: The vesting areas are private but they are not necessarily secure, please do not leave anything behind after you are called for the procession.  We recommend leaving most things behind you in the car or in  your hotel if at all possible.
