The Rev. Tim Grayson
Canon for Spiritual Formation
The College for Congregational Development is a comprehensive training program that originated in the Diocese of Olympia in 2009 and launched in the Diocese of Maryland in June 2021. The College seeks to nurture and develop congregational development practitioners from within existing parish lay and clergy leadership. The program draws on congregational and organization development theory and practice. It focuses on developing healthy, responsive leadership, facilitation skills, and teamwork, through understanding of Anglican/Episcopal ethos, culture, spirituality, and ways of being the church today. It is a two-year program. Studies include readings, a content exam, and the completion of a congregational project within participants’ ministry settings.
The College will take place at The Claggett Center in Adamstown, MD. For health and safety diocesan COVID protocols based on current health metrics will be in place. In 2024 the cost of registration for members of congregations in the Diocese of Maryland is $350 per person, representing significant financial support from our diocese to make this affordable for every congregation. It is $900 per person for people from congregations within Province III of The Episcopal Church. For all others, the cost is $1100. This includes a single room, all meals, and materials for the week.
