The College for Congregational Development is a comprehensive training program that originated in the Diocese of Olympia in 2009 and launched in the Diocese of Maryland in June 2021. The College seeks to nurture and develop congregational development practitioners from within existing parish lay and clergy leadership. The program draws on congregational and organization development theory and practice. It focuses on developing healthy, responsive leadership, facilitation skills, and teamwork, through understanding of Anglican/Episcopal ethos, culture, spirituality, and ways of being the church today. It is a two-year program. Studies include readings, a content exam, and the completion of a congregational project within participants’ ministry settings.
The 2024-20205 weekend program, Year B, will meet one Saturday a month for six sessions at the Diocesan Center: October 12, November 16, January 4, February 8, March 15, and April 26. Each gathering will be a full day from 8:30am–4:30 pm. Participants are required to attend all sessions and do homework in between. Registration is $250 per person
Participation in the College for Congregational Development means a commitment of both time and resources to this effort. The Diocese of Maryland does not want the cost of the College to prevent teams in this Diocese from taking part.
